The ones we (Stoddard) sell are from Porsche--but there is currently a pretty long wait on them.

Per, the dashes Stoddard sells from Porsche do in fact have the "removable speaker grill"? That would indicate to me that there are two different suppliers...unless the speaker grill can be cut out of the Lakewell/Marek dash for some applications and left in for others.

    They are definitely different dashes.

Does anyone know if Porsche ever fixed the fitment issues on their dashes? Lots of stories about the dashes not fitting very well.

It's not difficult to spot the failing of the infamous "gap" repro dash. The distance from the right front corner of the speaker opening to the defroster cutout is too small on the repros. There was literally no way (including removing material from the back of the passenger-facing surfaces) to "seat" the dash far enough forward. I created a fix on one of my cars by enlarging the defroster bezels, but hopefully, the newer repros are dimensioned properly. I don't have a dash handy to give the correct measurement; perhaps someone does.

There's a photo somewhere here that illustrates that issue. The Lakewell dash does not appear to have the same problem.

You mention the "newer repros". Are you referring to a revised repro from Porsche that fixed the earlier problems? I know there were rumors that Porsche was aware of this issue. Can anyone confirm that they've ordered a replacement from Porsche recently and received a dash that didn't have the problems described by EG?

Ok so I have placed an order with Lakewell for a new dash. Can I assume that any work that needs to be done to the speaker should be done prior to fitting the dash. I would like to put a modern speaker in, possibly a dual speaker that is the same oval shape. Has anyone fitted the Lakewell dash and can confirm you have to remove it completely to get to the speaker? Thanks.
