Things that make you go hmmm....
But it's definitely your car.
If it were me though, I'd be PMing Rennman for a candidate more suited to your end goal

Sounds like you want a "Singer". Not that there is anything wrong with that...

pictures of the bottom of the engine please. Gled
I can't resist subscribing to this.
Seem like you are going to get everyone riled up here (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Of course it's your car, but if it is "significant", you may want to resto-mod a different chassis. This way the next owner doesn't have to undo all of your work, track down correct parts etc (and we can avoid having to read the future thread where the car is returned to original while someone complains about the mods )
I'm trusting that you got a great deal on the car. Looks like a fun project.
Keep posting your updates, it'll be an entertaining read either way.

You're right. I should have consulted the forum before turning the car into what I wanted. My bad.
Just wait until you see the proper metal work going on and the plan for the engine before worrying about originality too much. I'm undoing the unbelievably shoddy work done by Brumos and making a driver's car. I will retain the wide look (11" and 9" flaring), the sunroof, and the Matter bar for "originality."
I think most of us here were under the impression that the car was a "Brumos" car based on your initial post...having used "Brumos" six words into your post. Lots of cars have had their engines rebuilt by them over the years so if that is all that has been done, you shouldn't feel pressure from the board here to make the car what they want. Just don't tout it as a "Brumos" car next time.

"Significance" can obviously take many forms.
To many here, cutting up a '73S is in itself is a sacrilege. To others, the previous ownership history, race history, or factory (or important dealer i.e. Brumos, VP, Andial, Ruf) mods constitute significance.
At the end of the day, it's just a piece of metal with a valuable 'S' VIN.
Please do clarify the Brumos provenance though. I'm interested to hear what you meant.
Also, in case you haven't noticed, this forum is pathologically obsessed with originality on longhood cars. If not "factory correct" originality, then "period-correct". You have to take this demeanor into account when you read our replies etc.
Cheers!
