    Hi,

Nice "S" ! I see the C of A says your engine number is 961782. I bet this is probably NOT your engine number. I think this is an error on the C of A. And, I think your engine number though is close to 782. Please post your engine number, better yet a photo, and I'll tell you more. Thanks.

Allen, that engine number looks ok to me for that VIN. Are you visually dating the engine from the picture as an earlier build? If so do you care to share the 'tell'?

The engine number is in the correct range for the Chassis number, true, no doubt. However, I'm pretty sure 961782 is NOT the correct original engine for this specific car.

Super cool car. Aga blue exterior & red interior is a wonderful combination. And you're 19! My only worry it, what do you have to look forward to in life! Enjoy the restoration, it'll be nothing compared to how much you enjoy the car.

Allen, 961782 is the correct engine. This is the first thing I checked before buying the car! That is the number of my engine, so the C o A is correct. You can also tell it is an S engine just by looking at the color of the fan shroud, in 1967 if it was red it was an S engine.

    Hello,

Thanks! Don't worry, I look forward to finishing my studies as a Mechanical Engineer and as a Mathematician! I will try to transfer to Georgia Tech next year, and after a couple of years I plan to have a Porsche collection!

That is very interesting. The reason I say this is I have a Kardex for a car produced within a day of your car. It is not my car. The engine number is shown as the same as your engine number ! Normally, Kardex are not in error. Of C of A's have errors but usually the engine number is not in error as that is straight forward to record. Not meaning to stir up a hornets next, Really. Thanks.

    Hello Mike,

Thanks. There is safety eyewear in my dads shop, but sometimes workers choose not to use them.
