Thread: Aluminium Door Hinges

    Aluminium Door Hinges

We decided to make some Lightweight hinges with a 'Quick Release' feature for one of the cars we are preparing.

We designed the hinges with bushes and a locked pin which is made from 316 stainless. There are Flanged DU bushes in one half of the hinge.

The pins are held in place by KLM clips which are easy to remove.

We considered casting to try to keep costs under control but pattern costs were too high so we have CNC machined them form 6082-T6.

They have been hard anodised and I just need to get all the fitting hardware together along with some stress plates to fit into the doors.

We are using Glassfibre 911R Style doors with Aluminium frames and Perspex Windows with straps to lift them.

I would like to make Aluminium Doors but just don't have time.

They have just been pre-polished and will be brazed in he next few days.

They will then have the final polish before plating
