Thread: SWT Hardware

    Question SWT Hardware

Out of abject curiosity, has any out there made their own hardware frames for their SWT? My '67 was converted to a hard window and I'm thinking of having a metal shop bend the proper pipe to the correct dimensions. I do have the misc attachment hardware. I would rather lean on someone's experience. And yes, I do realize that there is a fellow that does sell these commercially.

OK, let me try another aproach. Does anyone on this site have the metal frame out of their Targa and can provide me with the drawings of the parts?

Thanks, Mark. No, I had not seen the reference. Great site. The project on the body work resembles the rust/bad repair job on my '67. I'll contact Lars for further info.

    Hi John
I've done a '68 912 SWT restoration in the past but I had the parts. I am now looking at the Sierra Madre site for the complete SWT set up. I've asked them if they could do a "delete" on the handles because I do have the originals, but no, they replied. So if I go with them, I may have some extra stuff from the '67 I'm working on. If this car was not an "S" I would have never have started on it. Too much missing stuff. But it is what it is. It is currently completely taken apart, media blasted. upper rust areas repaired, upside down on a rotisserie and I will begin to work on the underside rust when I return from my vacation. I can't believe just how much sheet metal I have formed and inert gas I've used up on my MIG. For the love of the game.

There is a guy in canada who makes these and sells with or without handles. 914something something is his user name. Pricing is very reasonable.
