    Upholstery Q's: Pepita inserts = full custom seat cover? And: Leaf Green roll call

    Hi all

    I have some wool Pepita from ClassicFX that I'd planned to use as inserts for the stock seats on my '65 https://www.classicfx.net/materials/
    I know some firms offer seat covers with the pepita included, but since I have the fabric, is the most likely approach to go full custom on the seatcovers?
    I am working with a shop who perhaps has this capability but I'm also wondering if there are Porsche specific vendors who would sew these covers up for me.

    Add to that...
    I bought the pepita when I thought I'd keep my car Light Ivory but I decided on Leaf Green instead. As such I may sell the pepita and look for a brown colorway. If anyone has a Leaf (or other) Green early car so upholstered, please share!

    I supplied cloth to Autos International and they made covers for my 66 911. I'm sure Autobahn would do the same

    Those look beautiful. Did you install them yourself? Any comments from you (or the installer) on how they fit?

    I've been working with an older car/boat upholsterer for years. I strip the covers, prep and paint the bases, cut and install new burlap for the bottoms, take care of any work needed to the hinges and other hardware, and send him the four cushions. Fortunately for this set, the original horsehair/felt cushions were in good shape (low miles car and lightweight driver?). These are the third set of seats where I had the four covers pre-made and then installed locally. In all but one set, there was upholstery (sewing) work needed to get them to fit right, which any good upholsterer can do. In theory, any mechanically inclined person can install the covers -- you only need tacks and a staple gun - air works best. But you really need the years of experience in pushing and pulling, and making any needed alterations to get the fit just right.

    SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.
