    Dash mounted, Common on European convertibles of that era

    For the 911, perhaps Siffert was particular about the side mirror type or mounting location so it was left off by the factory.

    Or did not want it as he was only concerned about what was in front of him and did not think he would have anyone coming up behind him... (and he did have the interior rear view mirror - maybe an exterior one was not mandated in Switzerland at that time)

    There were six 911s in the background of the December 1969 press event to preview the 1970 racing season. I wonder if any of these cars belonged to the race car drivers in attendance. Only a partial tag of the first car was visible S-R 590X…, but it did have interesting through the grill lights.

    Edit 14-Dec-2021: Drivers in attendance were Jo Siffert, Pedro Rodriguez, Brian Redman, Hans Herrmann, and Rudi Lins. Rico Steinemann and Ferry Porsche also attended.

    Hugh, I agree with your view.
    What intrigues me more is the black 911 (sitting next to the car Eric mentions) with a Right Hand side mirror, or looks like it to me.
