    Beckham's McQueen replica . . .

'. . . David Beckham has splashed out £70,000 on a classic Porsche car – because it looks like one driven by his idol, film star Steve McQueen.

Becks bought the 1969 slate-grey Porsche 911 – described as a “Steve McQueen replica” – from a dealer in Preston who delivered it to him in London.

The original 1970 Porsche 911 owned by McQueen, which featured in his 1971 film Le Mans, was recently sold for £832,800 at an auction in Monterey, California.

Beckham has regularly talked about his admiration for the Hollywood legend, who died of cancer in 1980, aged 50

Did you notice the two horn grills on Beckham's 1969 are poorly aligned. And it's a 70,000 Pound or $100,000 refurbished car.

Photo looks to have been taken in Mayfair London not far from Jack Barclay famous Bentley dealership -- I once had an office in Berkley Square and that pub was "a local". RAK Records (per the cars personalised RAK 8 registration plate) was Most's record label. Very successful in his day and had many interesting cars. Used to also have a TV talent show in UK and was thought to be very tough on contestants long before Simon Cowell persona.

A pair of images from the 2014 'Cars-on-the-Avenue' Concours in Carmel, where that very car was for displayed to whip up interest interest for the scheduled sale at auction later in the week................brought about US $2.5, if memory serves me.
