    69 911 S EuroSpec - Another possible find

This can't be happening, but here we go again. Spoke to a gal not less than 30 minutes ago. Said her hubby has a 69 911 that's been in their garage for at least 10 years. It hasn't moved for as long as they've been together. She recounted that it was his first car that he purchased while in Italy in his teen years & then shipped it over. Said its been a race car since day 1 but legal for the road. They are a sports car family with R8's (her) & 911's (him) as their winter cars so totally possible. I will keep everyone in the loop, would appreciate knowing if there were any 911R's built for european consumption in 69/70.

    Thanks as always.

No one can accuse you of not having an over-abundance of hope and imagination.

Will be interesting to see what it is.

Production ceased in 1968 after four prototypes and 20 customer cars had been made.

Definitely not an R, but could be a GTS. Post the chassis number - that will tell the tale.

I never get tired of looking at 0009... it would indeed be something special to unearth another one like her.

If you can, please post the chassis number.

A magnet will only detect bondo. I use a QNix Handy. It's essentially a pocket-sized gauge that measures paint thickness. Does steel & aluminum and doesn't require any kind of calibration. It switches between ferrous and non-ferrous automatically. Paid about $500 Canadian for it. Money well spent. I've seen them on eBay for less. It's amazing how the conversation changes rapidly when you ask "Has your car ever been hit or repainted while you've owned it" Name: QNIX.jpg

69 S Update: I'm seeing the car this weekend. I've asked for the VIN in the interim.
