I agree, F40 or some other Ferrari. 959's seem like they have a limited audience along with an even smaller pool of qualified mechanics than the Ferraris. Early cars are hard enough to keep serviced, can't imagine what it must be like for the ultra high tech 959.

They're actually fairly "low tech", but a little complicated. If that makes sense. Lots of moving parts.

I would not be afraid of one. I think I could fumble my way through.

    That was my conclusion too.

I should probably clarify this statement. I am not telling you to not buy your dream car. There is no substitute or replacement for the car we've always wanted and no amount of logic will ever change that. I had the chance a couple of years ago to buy my dream car and not for one moment do I ever regret it. In fact, just the opposite. So I did not mean to dissuade you from your car. It's just not my place to do that. You clearly have to desire and fortitude to take care of such a car and I'm sure that you will do well with it.

My statement was only from my personal experience. I have gone a couple of times to buy a 959 and each time decided it wasn't for me at the time. I think they're great, I'd want a proper one from the factory and not "refined" or "improved," and I appreciate them for what they are even though there are certain parts of the technology that make me scratch my head. That said, there are certain things about them that have caused me to choose other cars before a 959. I may get one at some point but so far, going through with the purchase just hasn't made sense at the time. Full disclosure, my dream car was never a 959 but an F40 and so some of the nuances of the 959 might be lost on me but I think that I have enough experience to know what makes certain cars special.

Anyway, best of luck with it all.

Maybe it's just me, but the 959 design has not aged well to my eyes. I lusted after that car at the time, but now it looks a bit awkward IMO.

    No idea.
959 owners are a pretty quiet bunch.
I guess they're busy running Fortune 100 companies or small countries.
