Right under 300, not including the prototypes and pre-production cars, which are fairly numerous as far as prototypes and pre-productions go.

    Marco,
    Please delete your post.

Mentioning 918 in a 959 thread is sacrilege.

Jabberwocky, I can't blame you for diggin the seats; part of the 959 acid trip mystique.

Order confirmation for my 959 Sport version. Unfortunately, they didn't quite make the DOT cut, but I've got a nice scrapbook with all kinds of update letters on production and details about this program. The 28 959S cars were $295,000 (25 yrs ago!), no warranty, not street legal, and non-refundable $60,000 deposit. To my knowledge, only Otis Chandler was able to have his in the U.S., and went through all kinds of red tape certifying it would only be in his museum and had to get DOT permission to move it out of his building. I'll post more "update" letters from Porsche legal dept. After purchasing mine, I got a letter from DOT saying they knew I had bought the car and two pages of the bad things they would do to me if I tried to bring it in illegally. They even knew my serial no. (WPOZZZ95ZJS905020).
