This is really shocking... whilst the time and $$s it takes to do the job properly can be daunting, it is always the best route otherwise so much gets wasted...

Well, First off We do not pop-rivet rear panels to the car itself. We made new panels with new hardware for this car so you can easily remove the rear panel by pushing it up. We added dynamat insulation and 1/2 in. carpet padding to make all the imperfections go away for a clean and smooth finish, not to cover up rust. We do this in all of our cars. If it was obvious we would of contacted Tim and alerted him as we done many times in the past. We are in constant communication with customers and we don"t just "take owner's money" We did a lot of work on this car. We are a honest family owned business.

I have had no problem with Autobahn and have had more than a few projects with them. Always a good outcome. Once I brought a pair of original blk/pepita double locker sport seats personally to Tony for a redo of the center panels. After looking them over he said they were too nice; some the best he'd seen and would not take my money. I've always respected him for that guidance. We also used Autobahn for some tightening up of the original interior on my Gmund winning 67S. I will continue with them in the future.

The only thing I wil add to this thread is that I did a day trip out to see this car on Monday. Paul, ever the gentleman, had it ready for me to check out. My intent was to see if there was a deal to be had. Spent 10 min checking out the car, 30 minutes checking out the excellent white 2.2 targa he is selling (Posted in another thread), and a couple hours chewing the fat with Paul. Obviously no deal done, but always good to talk shop with an enthusiast like Paul.

I spoke to someone on the phone today who had a lengthy conversation with Tony about this car ... a car that Tony said he remembered quite clearly.

What I was told today was that Tony did, in fact, inform the Harris' of the car's condition and was instructed to "go ahead and upholster it anyway."

I believe the person who told me this and I believe Tony, as well.

That deal did not end well with said shop. The car was an absolute mess. This Slate grey car is no surprise.

I imagine there is a long list of us who would vouch for Tony and his work. Stellar guy and has always exceeded my expectations.
