    Yeah --- like stretch said . . . no seam sealing/finishing

    Something that seems to have begun w/ the 911R . . . then continued through the 911S 'GTS' . . . possible longer. Don't know about S/Ts or RSL/Hs

The General Consensus seems to be that seam-sealing --- and a lot of other coating/schutzing/painting were deleted/circumsribed when Porsche built specially-purposed light-weight shells

One small note: I don't believe that Porsche built all of the 911R shells. Some/all were built by Bauer. Be very curious to see if similar arrangements were made for other cars, as well. Many of Porsche's light-weight cars are also reputed to built-up using thinner-gauge + alu panels

Personally/for me? . . . these light-weights are the most fascinating cars that Porsche built

    I'm beginning to agree

Thanks for the links Rick.........plenty of brain food!

Although the Mongrel is very much going to be my 'take' on a Sports Purpose early 911 Hot Rod, I sure hope it captures the spirit of the early skinny lightweight racers.

    Cheers,

    Appreciate the comment Jens

Manuel decided Ebony was the way to go for my black look and managed to find a nice piece of wood from the only guitar maker in downtown Mexico City! ......

......thanks for running with this Manuel.....great customer service, great communication and looks like a great looking gear knob. Can't wait to receive it

More cool gear knob options here.... http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...lsa-Wood-Knobs

    100 Litre Fuel Tank….

The good thing about living in Europe is that everywhere is really close!

The frustration of a six-week-dust-gathering-no-progress-wait since the Mongrel came back from Barry was tempered at the weekend by the news that Marek Lappock finally had his first batch of 8 prototype 100 litre fuel tanks…...and I could have one ..….the bad news was that he was taking them to Techno Classica Essen!….

….I decided I needed to get there quickly before the dealers around the world had the opportunity to snaffle them!

This called for an 18 hour round day trip of over 860 miles that took me from England to France, through Belgium and the Netherlands before finally arriving in Essen, Germany…….but boy was it worth it! ….
