    Darren:

I have followed your thread and am glad you have stayed with Sports Purpose features on your hot rod 72. It makes me smile to see the level of intensity you employ in pursuing this build...it is so much more fun doing a hot rod (R Gruppe) long hood than simply ordering stock parts to build a 'restored' STOCK 72 2.4. You will enjoy the journey AND the destination MORE when you are driving this great period 911 down twisty roads.

Thanks for your kind words Gib,

There are a few threads on EarlyS that have provided HUGE inspiration behind this project and have to say your cars are amongst the very best of them

If I can reach half your level I'll be a happy boy!

    Cheers,

The shell of the car is largely complete now and Barry is working through the various strengthening modifications and little ideas we've developed along the way….

    More strength...

…some strengthening to the outer torsion tube area…

…and looking forward to finishing this area ….

Still plenty to do….strengthening to engine bay, torsion tube, front arb point, mods to both bumpers, front strut brace, roll hoop, centre tunnel mod for gearbox removal, lightly roll arches etc. etc…...but we're getting close now.

    More soon…..thanks for looking.

Thanks Jens, I appreciate the comments.

Someone asked why the holes in the rear shelf?…

…well, as you all know, a harness will normally be secured to a mounting bracket located at the inner corners on the rear shelf…

…despite his protests about them not being correct, I persuaded Dave (Stretch on here) to make me some perfect REPA twin tail harnesses that I'll be attaching to twin brackets welded in centrally on the rear shelf...

..the harness mounts came from John Gausden (advtracing on here) at ST-Classic, John produces a number perfect reproduction parts and is a great guy to deal with - http://www.st-classic.com/
