VW Porsche Pacific Culver City California.

My car 1968 was delivered to this shop. Does anybody know if the shop still exists and if not, if it has a successor?

    Porsche Pacific . . .

    . . . sounds like it could be a 'distributor' --- not a dealer. More here . . .
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...r-Dealer-Codes

There were two actual 'dealers' by that name --- but they were located in Hawaii + Vancouver, Canada --- and not Culver City

Do you have an address to go with your VW Porsche Pacific? That could help. Also, if you have the vehicle's Kardex --- dealer number/information might be on there

    Anyway . . . some more, here . . .

VW Porsche Pacific in Culver City originally started as Competition Motors in Hollywood. If you look up Competition Motors on the Samba, there are some pictures of the dealership at several locations, including the distributorship in Culver City. My 1966 Car was also originally sold directly through Culver City to an individual in Palm Springs. There was also a later iteration of Competition Motors on Ventura Blvd in Studio City. I'm not sure if there was any affiliation with the original Competition Motors, other than the name.

    Hmmm . . .

    Competition Motors = very famous dealership --- see post #338 . . .

Von Neuman may've moved his VW dealership to Culver City in the early '60s . . . but my PDLs show his Porsche dealership didn't move there until ~'71. Before then, he sold Porsches from a store at 21301 Ventura Blvd --- in Woodland Hills.

Curious. Does your Kardex show an address for VW Pacific, Gled? And what exactly is your handler nr? Could be different names for the same place, maybe?

    Different name same address

I have a '73 911E that was purchased 6/73 at "Volkswagen of America, Western Region, 11300 Playa Street, Culver City, CA 90230." They did the first 1000 mile service and used the same stamp with this address that appears on the Warranty Voucher page. The warranty was for one year or 20,000 miles and is authorized by "Porsche Audi a Division of Volkswagen of America, Inc." There is a signature under the name but I can't read it. Maybe Perkins for the last name.

Same stamp for Volkswagen Pacific Inc. at 11300 Playa Street, Culver City, CA 902030, but it reads in the last line of the stamp "Selling Dealer: Europa Motor Car Co. Ltd. - see picture below.

One of the links above has the following info: Europa Motor Car Co. Ltd, 6919 Laurel Canyon Blvd, North Hollywood . .CA

    Europa's a 'listed' dealer --- see post #216 . . .

So I'm thinking that any reference to Volkswagen Pacific, Inc is just an acknowledgment of the distributor that the dealer gets his cars from?

    it clearly had many names
By 13 May 1970 (where and when my car was sold and maintenance book was issued) it was trading as:
Porsche Audi Pacific, 11300 Playa Street, Culver City, Calif 90230
    With dealer ID 422 A07

Here is the link to the Samba info. Click on the thumbnails of the 10th anniversary flyer for a nice history.

    http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/...llywood_ca.php

You can Google Maps 11300 Playa Street and see that it is now a condo complex.

The Competition Motors dealership was indeed in Woodland Hills at 21301 Ventura Blvd]

It is Now an Audi dealer. It seemed to co-exist at the same time as the distributorship in Culver City. I remember visiting that dealer when the 924 was first introduced.

It is obvious by looking at all of the literature, that John Von Neumann sold both Porsche and Volkswagen from all of his facilities.

There really is a lot of dealer information on the Samba site. Here is the dealer search listing.
