Front Bumper Differences - Lower Light Mounts

I bought a used bumper a while ago and now think I may have the wrong year (I bought an LWB bumper?) or at least need a different bracket for my project to mount the below-the-bumper Hella 128 lights. First pic is what I bought, second is what I think I need for a 302 car built Nov '65. Besides the bracket to hold the lights, are the bumpers otherwise the same? Does anyone sell the bracket and are the brackets interchangeable? Thanks in advance,

    I've got this:

    I think I need this:

(thanks to DPorsche74 for the pic from an old thread)

that is one difference, the other might be (is?) the bumper brackets themselves.

On SWB they are horizontal, LWB vertical.

have a look at the mounting points for the" bumper to body" brackets on the inside..if the two mounting points horizontal the bumper is swb---if vertical it is LWB------------------------------------------------------------if diagonal the bumper is heavily bent....

Thanks guys. Does anyone sell just the light mounting bracket? I assume they can be interchanged with a bit of grinding/welding?

I guess you can make it work but as a FYI SWB has more metal to it, in other words you will need to add metal to make it go "deeper". The LWB bracket is more flat.

Thanks for the offer. I'm interested for sure. I'm also going to see if there is anything used out there and maybe save the clean LWB bumper I have.

Luke, Like preS and moito said, A LWB bumper will not fit on a SWB without body mounting bracket changes... I would start with a SWB bumper, then you would have the correct fog brackets?

For information you can (could last year anyway) buy new swb front bumpers direct from Porsche. My friend bought one - about £600 (approx. 900$) with tax here in the UK though…

I just finished fitting a SWB front bumper to my LWB tub. Below are photos of that project. Obviously you are going the other direction with a LWB bumper on the SWB tub. Also, I'm sure you're not desecrating a '65 as opposed to the mod build that I'm doing to this '71 911. It was just a non number matching "T" so no big deal, right?

Additional detail can be found on page 4 and 5 of my build thread over on Pelican. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...modration.html
