Although I've been posting here and there, this is my formal introduction to the Registry. I've been wanting an early 911 for a very very long time, but with a lot of things going on (moves, work, school, etc) I was never able to take the time to learn, search and pull the trigger on a car. Last year after I moved back to the Bay Area from South America I made a commitment to get my first Early 911 in 2013, but I didn't know I was going to become so obsessed with the search. During the search, I had to put up with my wife making fun of me because I was member of a Porsche club/registry without owning a car; a seller that wouldn't allow me to make PPI on a car after leaving a deposit; letting two cars slip away because I couldn't get there on time; and overall frustration but always learning more thanks to this registry.
At the end, all the work and patience paid off. Two weeks ago I became the owner of a Tangerine 1969 911T Karmann Coupe that had been garaged and off the road since 1986. This Tangerine beauty left the assembly line on July 17, 1969 and sold new by Europa Motor Car Co. in North Hollywood on September 16, 1969 and a few years later moved up to the Bay Area. It is a numbers matching car (engine and transmission confirmed by COA) with original California Black Plates (last registration sticker on the plate is 1987). I have a lot of history of the car documented in the original service book, service receipts/invoices (70s and 80s), registration slips (late 70s and 80s), probably all gas receipts '78 to '85, original pink slip from the last owner, original owners manual and other goodies.
This 911T went through a windows out respray in its original Tangerine color - certainly pictures don't make justice to this amazing color! The car had no rust other than a hole in the battery box which was replaced with original parts and some minor bubbles in the front fender, but other than that, the body was perfect. The floors are original and rust free. In the interior the headliner was replaced during the repaint, dash recovered and new interior carpet installed; the seats and door panels are still original and in great condition, original instruments and original Blaupunkt radio (it works!). The Fuchs Wheels are in excellent condition and still have the original factory finish and didn't need to be detailed. In terms of the mechanics the engine, clutch, transmission and breaks were rebuilt. New fuel tank from Stoddard and new fuel lines. New seals and rubber all around.
Although still in engine break-in period, the car runs really strong and sound. I couldn't be happier with the results, but enough said... now to the pictures...
