Thread: Special early 1964 features on 1965 cars

  1. #21
The early lower valve covers had serial # 901.105.116.02 and were at least used until engine # 900454 that was probably in chassisnr. 300354. This car was produced in the first two weeks of januari 65. I would like to know when they stopped using these.

Please note that 1666 has painted black under the engine grill, the small knob decklid release, doesn't have to my knowledge the split wooden dashboard.

It does however have a small knob for the fuel flap release, do others have similar knob?

Now that you mention it, the earliest window frames in PET are:

    901.542.005.20 DOOR GLASS FRAME F >> 302805 F >> 351271 F >> 438082 /L
    901.542.006.20 DOOR GLASS FRAME F >> 302805 F >> 351271 F >> 438082 /R

I suppose 438082 is supposed to refer to a Karmann 912 coupe, but they started at 450001. Aside from that, it looks like the Porsche-built 911s and 912s changed window frames about halfway through the MY 1966 cars built in CY 1965,

The parts books and spec booklets give the end chassis or engine numbers for a lot of features.
