John, these regulaters also have a (production) date stamped in them, did you see any?

I’m pretty sure it is marked 7-65, but will confirm when I go back to the shop tomorrow

Both regulators on 301744 with metal round-style rollers are marked 3-65, which is strange because my research shows the car built sometime around July of 65 -- all five wheels are stamped 7-65.

Both regulators on 304574 with plastic rectangular rollers are stamped 4-66, which is about when that car was assembled.

    As seen in post #448.

Waiting for Franz to respond because I'm sure he'll have pics.
Anyone else have photos of their original vinyl welting?

Trying to be faithful in reassembling 705.

    Thanks.

The use of vinyl as seal between the fender and cowl is found well into the 1965 production, we have been using the same technique for years in our restorations. The highest vin# I found and replicated it on was car 300953.

Here is the original fender welt/seal from my 717 car, it appears to me to be normal vinyl (kunstleder) such as would be used to make the seats etc. it is folded over then cut to fit the contours of the fender and bolt holes.
