Welcome aboard. Great looking car that should be real fun to use as intended…love the rally cars.
Well I managed to have a good poke around the car and take it out a couple of times this weekend.
The highlight is the engine which feels very strong, pulls like a train and makes a fabulous din. I will have to try to figure out exactly what the spec is and get it to a rolling road as it feels very fast. Gearshift isnt very nice - the short shift needs to go. Handles like its on rails. Very firm ride as you would expect. Brakes need a shove but work well. Speedo doesnt work. Handbrake doesnt work. MOT'd last week
Worst point is the front of one sill which doesnt look great and from what I can see behind the door, it will need work so that will be a priority. The rest of the car seems good though - its taken a few minor biffs to the body from flying stones but nothing too bad. Plenty of stuff to tinker with and improve over time.
The various numbers spotted so far.

901 03 362
901 105 111 1R
Fan 901 106 101 0R
A few pics. As you can see I have removed many of the stickers.
Looking through the paperwork that came with the car it included the original import papers.
The last US owner was a Theresa Marie Lannigan of Foster City, CA. Long shot, but does that ring any bells? From google street view I can see there is an old beetle in the driveway of the house so maybe she is still there....
I have also found more information about the Finnish owner's time with the car - he rallied it all over the place - including Abu Dhabi....
Jon, all I can say is WOW/WOW/WOW!!!... said very quickly together........

Luckily a photocopy of the Kardex is with the car.
Shows it to have been completed on 11 January 1966 and delivered to the Buyer on 28 April 1966.
The first owner was Adam Ritter of Fresno California (for some reason that name seems familiar...)
It was originally light ivory (paint code 6604B) - one of my favourite colours. Black leatherette interior and a Webasto heater.
Had warranty work (codes 590, 01295) in October 66 and January 67.
Original engine number - 903 575

looks good Jon
You obviously don't need a COA now you've got a copy of the Kardex.
But for future reference, one can (i) ask ones local Porsche dealer and they might be able to confirm (via Porsche UK) the numbers (nb ours do here in Australia) (ii) one of the UK owners clubs (Porsche Owners Club GB or something like that) offers a COA as part of the first year's membership fee …
