Good to see that you identified the correct chassis number
Would it be still registered with DVLA if the registration number has changed or would that show up.
Chuck. Sometimes you can be lucky. I had a bit on this car filed by regisation number, in part helped by mark copeland's book but not a chassis number to pin on it. Now that is fixed thanks to this thread as well.

That's great info and pictures. We established James dad's car was 426 over on DDK. I have in my notes from 1995 that the car was resident in the IOM which would explain why it is not registered with the DVLA in the UK (and still isn't, so the assumption is that it is still in the IOM).

I'm sure James and his dad will be thrilled to see what you have dug up. Great stuff!

It is possible that the car does have a new registration number which is unknown at this point and therefore could be registered in the UK. James confirms that his father sold the car to the IOM in the 80's and my notes still haveit there in 1995. A lot could have happened since then of course.

    James

Is that you next to the RS in that picture? I see the car has a rear Nerf bar fitted (the chrome bar) like my first RS did. I have seen more on RHD RS's than LHD. Must have been a UK thing.

Great picture James. I hope your dad has a great day with Mitch which, I know, will be under difficult circumstances. My best wishes to you and your family.

Sorry I couldn't help with my RS but I am just so far away from you in Scotland.

The interesting thing on this photo James for the RS owners is the presence of the solid 'Carrera RS' badge rather than a stick on decal on the duck tail on a period photo. Was this in the early 80's?

It's really nice to see the car being used as intended. Was that a European road trip? Looks like the Alps.

Is mum going on the day trip too with Mitch?
