How To - Resurrecting old thread links

I am not the only one who notices that on older threads many of the links within them that reference other places on the Early S Registry don't work any longer.

I imagine this is due to the software upgrading at some point and breaking old links by changing the url structure.

Has anyone figured out how to deconstruct an old url and reform it to the current format? Or are all these old references just lost?

    For instance
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...&highlight=888 doesn't work. But at some point referenced something.

    I have tried
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...read.php?16179, which is close to the current format. But it's clear I need more info.

Any ideas are appreciated, as it would relink someone else's efforts and make the old threads so much more useful.

That's a good question.... I'll forward it to our tech support.

I believe you're right about the upgrade 'wipe'........

If you know the thread title and the forum it's under, if you go down to the bottom 'footer' I have a hyperlink titled 'Archive'. Looking in those the 'General Forum' starts at '2001 (the first being the oldest) Hopefully these archives our afforded to you as well......

    Whoa! . . .

I just figured that --- whatever server those MiA threads are/were on originally . . . just got dropped/zapped during one of the various upgrades/migrations/cyber-farts that the site's endured over the years. Nice to see everything's backed-up, like that

Thanks, You Guys --- Chuck + Admin . . . and Bryce, for bringing it up!

Thanks for the archive reminder, Chuck.

It appears the archives may go back to the beginning of modern registry time. I have dug around a bit, trying to revive links in a few old threads, with varying success.

But here are a couple examples that do not exist in the archives, or at least there is no way of knowing if they do. They happen to be a couple threads with a count number below 30000:
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...l=1#post712005

It looks like there is no referential integrity between the number referenced in an old thread (e.g. thread=9504), and what appears to be a new number (assigned during an upgrade of the software?) above 30000. So the thread *may* still exist, you just can't tell what someone else was originally referencing.

So the question remains if these are just lost forever or simply unfound?
