    Question about Non-Matching #'s Values

I'm new to the registry and trying to determine how much not having matching numbers devalues my car. I may be looking to put my car on the market in the near future and am trying to gathering info to price the car correctly.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    -Car is a 1967 911S coupe(vin #308312S)
-Engine is from another '67 S(#960595)

    Thanks,
    Clayton

Welcome, always a good question. Here I am curious about the respons. I mean there are differences between Europe and US.

Pictures would help with the valuation.

Wouldn't it depend on the replacement engine?

10% is a good figure for the US market. The challenge is figuring 10% of what...? With so few '67Ss, the market is all over the place... It's my feeling it would be a bigger hit in the European market.

However, price acceleration in the US has made many of our cars worth more here than in Europe today.

I personally would pay much more than a 10% premium for all matching.

Assuming as pointed out, it's a great car to begin with.

A matching number is not the same as original. There is a good sized industry that will restamp anything for a not so reasonable fee. Most of the re-stamps are pretty bad but some are really great. With the current technology you can create anything. I've seen cars with very complete (and very impressive) histories. The problem is the history (and the VIN) are complete fabrications. You can't be careful enough these days. At least we haven't gotten to point of creating whole cars - yet.

Here in Spain it dod not matter, until a fes of us, startert asking if it was matching or not. The suddenly if the car was matching, the price was that 10 % regardless of condition, they figure that if its matching the condition of the car does not matter.
There are fes S and early cars here any way for sale.

Like everything else, its something that has being instated from the US market.

    The reality is that:

    1) A case can be restamped.
    2) Someone can (still) find a blank case.
    3) There are many guys who can stamp a case to make it look correct.

In the Ferrari world you can buy a case/ block FROM Ferrari with your original engine number. Safe bet Porsche will be doing the same thing.

Using Hagertys pricing guide a condition 1 67S is worth in the high $200s. There are occasionally cases that come up for sale for less than $5k...so is the case worth $5k or 10% of the value of the car? Slippery slope.

I agree. More than the price hit, you limit your buyer pool.
