Value is a very tricky question.

I think that a long-hood with a 3.0 engine would be a great value. I can probably get it cheaper than an original car. Less money and more fun to drive. What's wrong with that?

The same thing is happening with the Corvette world. An NCRS Corvette is priced beyond the average person's budget. A nice '66 with a 350 cid engine is still reasonable and a lot of fun to drive. The original perfect cars continue to drive the market higher but the street driven cars are flat.

Any number of people here are confusing numbers matching and original. Those are two very different things. Tell me what numbers you want and we can easily arrange that.

Tom Tweed's old car on BAT is a pretty good example.

Is this an accurate assumption re, the engine when is comes to value and re-sale of the car?
(For sure only based on my very limited knowledge.)

    Best: Original matching

Better: Factory replacement 7R unstamped case

    Good: Period m.y. correct engine

Fun to have since you still have an early 911: Random/anything goes engine
