Can I test my tacho ?

I've a number of circa 1972/3 tachos and am unsure which if any are working. Is there any way I can test them off the car or wired up to the car to find which work ?

Here's an article that I wrote a few months ago. It's all about vintage gauges. Seattle Speedometer sees more customer inflicted damage than they do normal problems. They suggest you call them before you do anything. The call is free. You don't want to create a bigger problem than you already have.

72/73 tachos with a "C" connection on the back run off an 11 volt square wave with a 63% duty cycle. You can use a signal generator, a 555 timer, anything that generates a square wave.

Thanks guys. I'm in Ireland so not feasible to send them to USA for testing. I'll get a good auto electrician here to do as you say.
