Help with 1973 Paint Code 252

    Hello,

My first post here (long time member of Pelican). I've been looking for a long hood 911 project car for some time, and finally purchased one on Wednesday - a '73 911T RoW. I ordered the CoA yesterday, so I'm curious to see how the car was ordered (PCNA confirmed it has the "comfort pkg" with S instruments, etc.).

My first question is, what color is Paint Code 252? I have looked at all the paint codes listed for 1973 (and other years) that I can find, but I am unable to find 252 anywhere. I believe it is some shade of green. Could there be a typo on the chassis placard and it is really 225 Emerald/Viper Green?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I've not seen that code. BMW 252 is calipsorot, Mercedes 252 is designogruen. 225 is emerald green or viper green but appears brighter than your photo. If you have a COA it might provide some clues. I'm told Porsche was willing back then to paint just about any color if you wanted to pay for it.

I also found a match for 252 as a "Green Sand" at a Jaguar site:

It even fits for a '73:
    252 Green Sand 1973; 75-77 44880

Hopefully the CoA will reveal some clue about the color. Like you said, it may be a custom color ordered by the customer.

Well as you may have guessed, 252 is in the range of "green" numbers, so the green paint poking out from under the horrible silver respray is likely your original color.
Good luck in finding the official name!

Update: I received the CoA info today - the car was a "paint to sample", which explains why code 252 never appeared in any standard color charts.
