Thread: RS poster question.

they are not foam mounted, they are printed on the material. one thing i know is never say never about porsche. The normal versions of these posters have a white margin on the perimeter making the image smaller than my posters. I m surprised nobody noticed that. I think my posters could have been custom made but i think only porsche would go to the trouble when a slightly smaller version was already available on heavy paper free for dealers.

I agree with your "never say never" comment when referring to Porsche. However , I have never seen a white border on this poster before. The image size is 30"x40".

There is no way to print directly on foam board, even silk screening would be very difficult. Probably dry mount on foam board.

    Rick,

David is most likely right here. Did they even have this type (I'm presuming it's the white core kind) of foam board in the 70's?

Well whatver its origin the paper layer is very thin, thought i saw a margin on the lit show posters. Thanks for the help but these are just oddballs, RS, 72 Edmonton can Am and a Silverstone poster.

the material is Fome-Cor and has been produced from 1957 by monsanto for the poster material historians out there.

    Posters, Mounting, etc etc etc

Yes... here is the process (below), including the mounting press. Assuming it was mounted on a mounting press (most likely), there is now way of turning back, as the adhesive creates an incredibly strong bond. That being said, we have removed the posters from the fome-cor, but you are risking ripping the poster, and will still have the paper from the board on the back, which isn't ideal. I have also "smashed" the foam core, to make it a bit thinner, to fit in certain frames.

Boards could be 1/4" thick or 1/2" thick approx. Additionally, "Gator board" is an alternate substrate, and is extremely rigid; however, we don't use it much any more. One can opt for laminating afterwards, which produces the glossy finish.

So Im looking at my Pano and I see a drawer full of dealer posters at the Porsche archives and they do appear to be the same as the three I have.
