    100 Liter Fuel Tank Install

I thought I would share my 100 Liter Tank install as well the spare tire strap kit.
Here I set the tank in place for the test fit.
Next it shows the tank clamped down and the straps mounted.
Next pics show the strap mounts. I just got the steel wheel back from the powder coater. Just waiting for the tire to arrive and I will post the final pic.

This path sure rings a bell I've been going through many of the same things. I worked with John Gausden (advtracing) to get a spare strap made for it. He even got the black webbing for it to go along with the black leather strap. I sent the spare down to Harvey to have him work some of his magic on the wheel itself. I have a set of 5 Avon tires coming in for it. Home stretch now! Like you...more pics to come.

Here is John's (Advtracing) strap kit with the spare tire installed. Still waiting for the sending unit from Specialty Cars to complete the project.

You might want to consider providing a template for the location of the strap mounts. It's quite tedious centering the setup with the correct angles for the brackets. You only get one shot when drilling the holes for the brackets. Very nice setup though John.

I chose to use nuts on the bottom of the bracket screws with blue locktite. If the nuts come loose, you will have to move the tank to access the nuts...so I used nylock nuts with flat and lock washers, and blue locktite. I could have used sheet metal screws, but I feared they would keep coming loose from the tension placed on the straps and we all now what the end result is of having to keep retightening a sheet metal screw.
I used a 185/70 Vredestein for my spare tire selection.

Good plan , was going to make a template for the items , but due to there being no 100 and 110ltr tanks in nz i have nothing to for one off for these sizes . i will make one for the other sizes .

    Specialty Cars fuel Gauge

    "Waiting for......"

Be prepared to pull your fuel gauge instrument, and have it re-calibrated for the taller sending unit. I just sent both off to Hartmut at Palo Alto for the fix. The Specialty Cars piece is VERY nice, but the calibration thing was a bit of a surprise.
