    5.5x15 Tire Size

I wondering what is the widest tire I can put on a 5.5x15 fuch without it looking to fat. Is there anyone out there running 195's ?
    Thanks for the help.

I have Michelin 195s on my car, with 5.5" wheels. They don't look "classic" but not "fat" either.

I would not go wider than 185 (185/65 or 185/70) on 5,5" rims. 175/70 is also a nice classic dimension, but only tire in this dimension I know is Vredestein classic.

Since you asked for the widest, not the best fitting...
Vintage racers have run and many still do run 205/60s on 5.5 wheels.
They are bulgy and look over tired but they do work for them.
Personally, I would use the 175/70 Avons and get a tire that works better than the wide ones and fits well.

Trust Harvey's recommendations, but if you want, you can put a 195 X 65 X 15 tire on a 5 1/2" rim. Here is a picture of the wheels and tires off my 356C with 5 1/5 X 15 944 Spare wheels. I don't think they look out of place at all on that little car.

Thanks Jim. Is that a 195/65 mounted on that wheel ? I have a new set of that exact tire. I purchased a set of 5.5x15's and was hoping the tires would work out.

    Yup, 195 X 65 X 15 on 5 1/2 X 15 wheels. Works great.

    Ciao
