Current thinking about high performance tires in RS sizes

I just bought a 73 S targa with RS flares and 15 x 7's all around, my intention is to replace 7's on rear with 8's. What is the current experience with tires, I am willing to give up period correctness for performance. Car will mainly be used on street.

    IMO you can't beat Avon CR6ZZ's - available in 185/70 & 215/60x15 VR-rated

I have 16x7 and 8 but I think the Advan A048 comes in 15 inch sizes too, like for the Lotus Elise. I use 205/55-16 and 225/50-16.

I have both Avon and Pirelli in 2 sets of 7front and 8rear fuchs:

if you want a sport/racing feeling and a fantastic grip chose Avon CR6ZZ
if you want a road/comfort tyres chose Pirelli P6000

When the Pirelli P7s came out in the mid 70s it really ushered in the low profile revolution. I think everyone switched to them pretty quickly, running 205/50 in the front and 225/50 in the back- and that's on sixes/sevens. Also works fine on sevens/eights.

My car came equipped that way when I bought it in Germany in 1984. I'm still running those same sizes, although no longer Pirellis. But once you go to that size there are a ton of options. If you want performance over correctness I don't see a reason not to go with 50 series. Love to hear what others think.

Since I'm a Bridgestone fanatic and the sizes for 15's were so limited. I stored my 15's and switched to 16's 6&7.
    205/55 in front, 225/50 in back. Re11

+1 on the Bridgestones. Also available as the RE11S if you want to be really aggressive. Others available include Yokohama Advan A050 and Neova AD05 and Pirelli's P Zero is also available in the As pattern.

Where can you buy the Avon CR6ZZ's or the Pirelli P6000's in the US? I can't seem to find any sources for 15 inch wheels.
