Great posts, Mike
Thanks Rick!
That car is in the Registry pdf, which was the initial reason I sent in my dues more than a year ago
I tried to contact Mark with no luck. I have since learned he passed away and that his son has the car. Appears to be something of a hotrod.
Cheers!!
Speaking of Hotrods...
I finally had the great fortune of meeting up with Dana Dinham. He brought out his souped-up Silver 1973 911T (famous over on the bird for having been lifted from his NE Heights garage a few years back) and we took a drive together Sunday morning. Along for the ride with Dana was Geary Pyles, a great guy I look forward to visiting more with - and a 'real Porsche nut'.
The weather was sort of ominous, with rain in the forecast.
I chickened out and put the airbox back on. Paul's screens look even more at home inside of the airbox base:
Dana took a chance on the rain as he was also running the same screens on the Weber throats that I have pictured here a few posts back. We met at Tramway & Central and headed East through Tijeras Canyon.
Ultimate destination: uh, Sandia Crest
There is a real big sweetness that comes from running with another car. Obviously a well known condition around here, but again, fresh for me and Porsches like everything else. Boy could that 2.5 L 9.5:1 S cammed fat PMO sporting powerplant pull away from the green car!!! wish I could photoshop that pesky red car.
We made the Crest in no time, and on wet roads in the upper 1/2 of the climb. Winter is coming quickly up there -
Burrrrrrrrrrrr Dana is the handsome one on the left. Thanks Geary for taking some nice shots
Happy cars at 10,678 feet
A culminating 70 miles more for me and 308427S for now. Car ran just fine. I even solved most of my vibration issues at 84 mph by tightening the R front wheel bearing. That was a FUN ride and Dana was gracious enough to meet me 7:30 am Sunday morning despite having become a grandfather over night!! Thanks for the ride Dana and I look forward to visiting further -
Cheers!!!!

Mike,
The pleasure was all mine. Look forward to many more outings.
Dana
I sure enjoyed that drive... a week ago already.
Its time to focus on other matters. Although developing the restoration process will continue through the winter, the car itself has gone into storage Yesterday...
First we removed the Fuchs and mounted up the '67 Lemmerz steelies -
Wheels will go out to Weidman Wheels when the time is right (we're in the queue ). But the car...
...is in a barn
I have had a great summer! That car is a gas, and its performing pretty well as it becomes a barn-find in the making. I do not know exactly when real restoration work will begin. More careful planning is in order regarding process and facilities where work will take place. Its tricky to bring that together without simply farming it out, but we will hit it hard when the planets align. I do get to return to the SC over the winter - its just been sitting there for months.
Thanks for riding along so far... & I appreciate the warm welcome I've had from so many in the Porsche community.
Cheers!!
