It is a sad day. I had several interactions with Roger when I owned my 914-6. He was a great guy to do business with.

Made us all happy with extractor exhausts for our 356 cars. It was the must have product back in the 60s and 70s.

And Roger Bursch helped engineer and dyno the 911S that Johnson drove to the SCCA C Production national championship in 1967.

    RIP

My Mom's 58 Normal coupe had an early Bursch system on it. It's the sound I grew up with...trips every Thanksgiving and Christmas from LA to San Diego with four of us in that little car...clothes in duffles in the front...
When I got my learner's permit, Mom FINALLY let me drive the car to repark it. The first time I had that ripping sound under the control of MY OWN RIGHT FOOT I near peed my pants on the spot!

When I was 18 and my two sisters and I were,um, just a bit large for the car, Dad got a new BMW 2000TI 4-door with the rally kit. Mom''s going to be 90 in July, and she's still pissed that Dad made her sell the Porsche.

Roger Bursch was one heck of a pioneer in the Porsche world.

Sorry to hear the bad news, but I'll remember him every time I drive my 912, which has had the same Bursch extractor since 1970. No more guts in it after 150,000 miles, so it sounds great!

Old Roger was no fool...that C Production 911S had Roger's decals on it's side, but from an article in Road & Track early 1968...the bottom photos clearly show Allen was running stripped factory heater box headers!

Roger's 356 headers were the proven hot setup, but the 911 headers just moved the flat spot! He knew that!

    Thumbs up

The day I took the pic at Davey Jordan's, Roger took a very old folded up piece of paper out of his wallet ... It was the original gear chart he set up for Alan Johnson at the '67 SCCA runoffs at Daytona. Roger fitted the very highest 5th gear available therefor giving a top end advantage to the Johnson 911S..... Davey, who was running second said, on the banks Johnson would just pull away with that very smart, very tall, 5th........

    ........ and so it goes
