    Transmission Cover

    Looking for options for the side cover on a 901/13 with a worn out clutch cable guide?

    So far I've seen ;

    And the

    Are there any other options, maybe like the bracket available for the 915?

    We just have a steel sleeve machined that fits into the existing hole and J-B weld it into place.

    if you buy an Alu side cover, you should re-set preload and backlash on the ring and pinion. Gled

    Ed's recommendation is more elegant. I just machined an L shaped aluminum bracket and bolted it onto the outside of the existing cover. Has worked for years.

    That sounds like a plan Ed.

    I didn't want to start getting into back lash, and pre load setting, replacing bearings and seals just for a guide. (not to mention I don't know what I'm doing)!

    How loose is the cable normally in the guide? It's a bit hard to tell with mine as it's worn so bad.

    Is it ment to hold the cable firmly, or just prevent the cable from flexing up, hence not getting the travel on the clutch.

    It's a MY69 901/13

    TIA

    It's basically a two different diameter sleeve, one end receives the cable end, and the other fits into the worn ring on the side cover. Their is an outer step to keep the cylinder from passing through the ring, then the whole affair is J-B welded into the ring. All the force is pushing against the ring which the stop diameter prevents it from going through. I found a picture of mine, I know, its kind of mucky isn't it,,,so its a 'daily driver'

    Thanks Ed, a picture is worth a thousand words. Looking at mine I may have to go with just a sleeve, as there isn't much of a lip left. At the top I've only got about 2mm of original material to work with.

    Hallo Tony

    Only to say that ours is the perfect reproduction of the racing reinforced cover , not only a cnc-machined piece of aluminium....
