Question Question Car won't start after heavy rains; any ideas why?

My 1987 Carrera 3.2 is a great car, except for when she is in heavy rains. Then she won't start, and it's usually after at least a day of drying out that she starts up again. I've had this problem previously, and my mechanic in Florida changed out the distributor cap which had a small hairline crack in it. I also changed out the ignition wires to a set of Magnacors.
When we were moving up to Philadelphia, we stopped in Savannah to have dinner with friends. It poured that night and I had to have it flat-bedded to his house. It was fine the next morning.
The other day, the same thing happened when I was at school; a day of heavy rains; the result:

Could any of the gurus here point me to a possible cause (and solution)? Your help is always appreciated...thanks.

Are you sure that under that beautiful exterior, you don't have a Jaguar with a Lucas ignition system? Just kidding. Certainly sounds like moisture in the ignition system. You can try WD-40 on your wires and both the inside and the outside of the distributor cap, or you could try something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Gunk-M406-Plas.../dp/B002008PQ4.

Look under the seats, is it wet? Porsche, using some faulty German logic put the computers under the seats, below the water line so to speak.

I spray WD-40 on my distributor caps. an old habit started when I drove VW Bugs. The motor wouldnt start after a car wash until the cap and wires were sprayed with WD. That could solve your problem but I dont have experience with Carreras.
