    Auction Description:

    - Original European-Delivery Vehicle; Nearly 40 Years of Sole Ownership
    - Purchased New by Noted Architect and PCA President Gordon Stice
    - Historic and Desirable Early SWB 911 with Exceptional Purity
    - Original Documents and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
    - Unrestored and Wonderfully Original with Proper Care

Striking in white and black livery, this 1966 Porsche 911 is a thrilling find. An original European-delivery example, this 911 was purchased new in Germany in June 1966 by Gordon Stice, the noted Mid-Century modernist architect and former president of the Porsche Club of America. Mr. Stice imported the 911 directly to California after taking possession and retained it until the mid-2000s. As offered, this matching-numbers, unrestored early 911 remains exceptionally original apart from a quality repaint in the correct factory-specification white. Accompanied by a wealth of documents, this wonderful early 911 is further complete with the Importer’s and Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin, German registration document, post-importation correspondence, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, books, manuals, a mounted spare, and tool roll. Carrying exceptional provenance, highly original, and beautifully presented, this early, short-wheelbase 1966 Porsche 911 is equally ready for the concours lawn and spirited driving enjoyment.

When is the last time you saw an air pump (intact) on a '68? Piston style AC and automatic transmission. Slow ride.
    I like it.

Foolishness is the only word that comes to mind in spending all of this time and money to restore a '68 Sportomatic to this level. My hat's off to the maniac who did this. Leaving the smog pump system on and operational is only surpassed by the working, period correct A/C system. This car is a complete albatross. 0-60 in 4 minutes. Will be very interesting to see auction results.
If my mother in law needed something to drive on the weekends I'd pay $40k for it.

Someone is going to be very disappointed.

Scott, the Mrs drives a stick, no slush box.

Bidders will be bum-rushing the stage to buy. I think bids could go as high as 60k.

Frank are the seat creases the way you say they should look? Not the sharp edged you sometimes see. Saw you comment on this before. Value your opinion.

Difficult to tell from photos but they do look pretty honest. Would need to smell bottom cushion to confirm. Don't mind bragging; I have a nose for 50 year old aged flatulence.

Like a fly drawn to poop I'm fascinated with this car. It's beautiful. Reminds me of a 100 point Rambler.

Would love to hear backstory. I refuse to believe someone restored this car to sell.

Certainly not to make money. Then again, I'm always amazed at what people (including me) spend money on. To some people the rarity of all these items combined in one car might just be attractive.

    Auction Description:

Presented in a very unique color of Butterscotch; this Porsche 911 is a lovely representation of one of the first production years for the 911. The outside of the car is finished in stock configuration with factory Fuch wheels. The cabin of this Porsche is highlighted with leather upholstery, wood grain dash, wooden steering wheel, VDO instrumentation and Coco floor mats. Powering this German automobile is a 2.0-liter six-cylinder engine, with 130 horsepower. Married to the engine is a floor-shift, five-speed manual gearbox.

In 1966, Porsche only manufactured 1,709 examples of the 911.
Auction's America corrected the description and is now calling it a 1966. 302060 was one of the last cars built in July, before the summer shutdown in 1965. There were a few past that (a friend recently bought one) but chassis # 302198 would be a very early MY 66.

It also has a MY 66 color code: 6605 Bahama Yellow (Bahama Yellow was introduced in MY 66) although there were a few color codes beginning 66 used late in MY 65.

Another new in MY 66 feature is the knee pad wrapping around the bottom of the dash.

But, it still has non-adjustable front strut tops and a windshield washer reservoir (bag) in the right fender.

It looks like it's missing the carpet on the shift tunnel.

Some Amazing Mistakes by Auctions America:

They called the color "Butterscotch" instead of Bahama Yellow.

They don't mention that this car still has its original [now rare] Solex carburetors.
