    Thank for everyone's input. It does seem to be a wide range of colors.

    Since I had the fuel tank out, I started to clean the trunk area and removed enough dirt to get to the original color of the undercoating and it appears to be the same color as LongRanger's image 8) 9112102213. Would it be safe to say that the tank would have match that color?

    I've taken a piece of my original undercoating and tried cleaning and scraping it a bit to reveal, hopefully, the original color of the undercoating. Would it be safe to assume that the tank would have been coated the same?

    To answer your question , no . The undercoating on the car is not the same color as the tank .
