From a 65/66 sales brochure. Carpet not rubber I believe as the 66 I had.

304389 has rubber floor mats and rubber shift tunnel cover.
It was always my impression that on early cars (up to '67?) rubber mats were standard and carpet was an optional upgrade, just like it was for 356's.

Early ‘65 911s had carpet on the floor, which your photo shows - note the early leather shift boot only on ‘65 cars. By the ‘66 model they used rubber mats like the 356.
304598 has rubber mats...

I guess you have not ordered a Kardex for your car. This would answer definitively several questions you have asked about your, particular car. Responses to your questions across several threads indicate a car of your year and vin number might have come with rubber mats or with carpets, with leather or vinyl, etc. Only the Kardex (and to a lesser extent the CoA) will tell what your particular car came with. The same goes for color and type of carpet -- if your car came with supplemental carpet. The carpet could be perlon, or ordered as square weave in an assortment of colors (c.f. late 356). The questions you ask yield only the range of possibilities of how your car might have been configured. An investment in a Kardex will turn speculation and guessing into fact.
velour with cloth binding was standard for 66, square weave with vinyl binding for the trunk. Not sure if the velour came in colors other than grey/black.
