This car has a 'Reconstructed Title'; I guess that is Oregon speak for what we call in California a 'Salvage Title'. Meaning, an insurance company categorized this car as being totaled at some point in its life.

    BaT Description:

This 1971 Porsche 911E Targa is a US-spec car that was built in September 1970 and is finished in Irish Green over beige vinyl. Power is provided by the original fuel-injected 2.2-liter flat-six, which is equipped with Carrera-style chain tensioners and paired with the original five-speed manual transaxle. A previous owner reportedly commissioned a top-end engine rebuild in the late 1990s and also had the interior reupholstered. The seller purchased this 911E in 1999 and had it repainted in the original color in 2014. It is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a reconstructed Oregon title in the seller’s name.

This car is one of 935 911E Targas built for the model year and was delivered new in Irish Green (15). A color change was performed at some prior to the seller’s purchase, and the driver’s door and front hood were also replaced. A glass-out repaint in the factory color was carried out in May 2014. According to the seller, the front windscreen has been replaced and the rubber seals renewed. The targa top was rebuilt in 2015 with new upholstery, panels, seals, and fasteners. The car is also equipped with European-style headlights, lower rocker trim, and a single round sideview mirror. The 15″ Fuchs wheels feature polished spokes and are mounted with 205/55 Yokohama S.drive tires showing 2012 date codes. The seller states that the front brake calipers and the master cylinder were rebuilt during his ownership. The trailing arm bushings, shocks, and front wheel bearings have also been replaced.

The cabin is upholstered in beige vinyl. A previous owner reportedly recovered the seats and door panels and installed a new carpet. Aftermarket retractable seat belts are also equipped. A three-spoke Momo steering wheel is fitted, though a factory wheel is included. A Blaupunkt cassette head unit is installed, and the clock does not work. 39k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, about 9k of which were added by the seller in 20 years of ownership.

The 2.2-liter M911/01 flat-six reportedly received a top-end rebuild 9k miles ago in 1997. The valves and piston rings were replaced, and both the electric fuel pump and mechanical fuel injection pump were rebuilt. 3.2 Carrera-style oil pressure-fed chain tensioners were also added, and the engine tin was powder-coated. Cylinder pressure testing in February 2018 reportedly produced results of 165-170 psi and 8%-10% leak-down across all six cylinders. The oil was changed in November 2018. Stamping *6210094* matches the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, confirming the engine as original. The 911/01 five-speed manual transaxle is stamped 7111172, which also matches the CoA. All new synchromesh was installed in 2000 and the clutch was replaced. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the original colors and powertrain numbers. The seller reports that the reconstructed title was issued prior to his 1999 purchase and that he could not find records of previous damage.

So my buddy bought this car. My hope is that it gets him enthusiastic about early cars. He's a Porsche guy but this is his foray into longhoods. Car is heading for DC area. Sold for $67.5k

OK, i'm a newbie to the site, and have some documents for the Tangerine Orange 911T sold by Gooding in January, Scottsdale. I'd like to contact the new owner personally to see if they got any documents from the car I bought across town at the RM auction....the Blue 911E Vin# 119200588, also Jan/Scottsdale.

Also trying to contact Doug Dill who owned the T motor #6130317. Can't seem to figure out how to send a PM to a list member.

    thanx steve meltzer <scheherazade@swbell.net>
