Further research on the board advise not using the old rods in an engine build. Pauter or carillo for my 2.3 ST build ?

I think what you use depends on your ultimate budget and goals; I know of several highly regarded engine builders who use prepped and matched 2.2 stock rods with aftermarket bolts in their race engines, and claim never to have had a rod failure. The 2.2 rod addressed several issues and weak spots in the original design, and are considerably reinforced in the shoulder and bolt seat areas. They're pretty stout.
I've got used matched-weight 2.2 rods in my 2.5 litre twin-plug engine.
They were magnafluxed/balanced/shot-peened & modified to accept new ARP rod bolts.

I can't find a picture like that in porsche books or manuals.
Those look like unfinished forgings, without the weight balancing pads ground down.

That's one ugly rod. Not so sure about unfinished forgings; a typical 911 rod has only a small portion on the big end ground. That appears to be a completely different forging.
Whatever they are I would never install them in a motor. Unless I was building a 911 industrial engine.
May be this ?
