first ride - 10 yrs old in a 73 911S - Silver - I was done for
Started 'playing' with them in the late 80s
Started racing a 72 911 T built to 2.9L RSR in SoCal SCCA, PCA, POC early 90s
Have owned over 50 long hoods from late 80s until 2000
dropped out from 2000 - 2018 - due to life, work, travel
Been building a 2.8 'RSR' inspired car since 2018 - 9111121235

The car looks Great and a nice engine build...Just in case, and with the risk of repetition! ...."Intermediate and chain gears all in spec"...as Ed M and Gled49 have mentioned in the past.... I hope they are "previously used" and not recently supplied as New sprockets by Porsche from "SEBRO"...But, hopefully this is old news and most people know this by now...

Thanks for the kind words and reminder Lars! Yep, all in spec and good used, not new...

A few videos of first engine start, rough tune, then on the dyno with chart...
TEST STAND
DYNO RUN
RESULTS with and without air filter
WITH AIR FILTER
PEAK Torque - 260.3 NM (192 ft lbs) @ 5400 RPM vs factory specs - 254.9 NM (188 ft lbs) @ 5100 RPM
PEAK HP - 168.3 KW (225.7 HP) @ 6550 RPM vs factory specs - 156.6 KW (210 HP) @ 6300 RPM
2.7 MFI Dyno Numbers Graph Overlay with air filter.jpg
WITHOUT AIR FILTER
PEAK Torque - 261.4 NM (192.8 ft lbs) @ 5600 RPM vs factory specs - 254.9 NM (188 ft lbs) @ 5100 RPM
PEAK HP - 172 KW (230.7 HP) @ 6750 RPM vs factory specs - 156.6 KW (210 HP) @ 6300 RPM
2.7 MFI Dyno Numbers Graph Overlay without air filter.jpg
Interesting to see the peak torque and HP are slightly higher without the air cleaner (0.8 ft lbs and 5 HP difference), but both are slightly higher lower in the rev range with the air filter on the overlay graph... Also both with and without the air cleaner both peaks are higher than factory specs...

Very good info. Your builder doesn’t seem to drag his feet and gets the job done. When do you expect to be behind the wheel again?

Excellent results, I am sure you will enjoy your build. Great road car.

'73 S Targa #0830 2.7 MFI rebuilt to RS specs
Thanks David! I'm very happy with the results! And keeping as near to stock as possible and a road car was the goal - kind of a counterbalance to the 2.8 RSR build... I just couldn't resist upping the compression while in there... we have the high octane fuel over here, so why not...
