This 1967 Porsche 911 S Coupe is located for sale in San Diego, California at Motor Car Company. This Porsche just finished a complete no expense spared restoration performed by Vintage Specialties out of San Diego, California. This is one of the finest examples of a very rare and unique ‘first year’ 911S. Matching numbers are stamped on the doors and engine lid. The engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension were all completely rebuilt. The 1967 911S cars were the first to have the extra horsepower, which was increased from 130HP to 170HP. This was a unique transition year for Porsche and as a result, one of the most unique 911s was produced. The 1967 S had one of the lightest chassis, as well as, a 2.0 liter “S” engine derived directly from its race program. This combination produced a true sport purpose car. This example is one of those 911s that has always been cherished and enjoyed before the ground up restoration. Painted in beautiful signal yellow with black leatherette interior. All the gauges, including the clock, are original and have been restored. All chrome was done in CA, USA. Options include factory heart shape original (dated 10/67) 4 1/2” Fuchs which were one year only sporting Michelin XZX 165/70 VR 15 tires. Leather steering wheel with deluxe horn ring. Tinted windows. The best part is the way these 911 S drive, it is pure Porsche. There is nothing like the way these short wheelbase with the short stroke early motors free rev. The 2.0-Liter runs perfectly and the shifting is precise and smooth. The steering on these first 911S is light and responsive. The brakes have been completely rebuilt along with the suspension. This car would be the ideal 911 for vintage touring events; a very desirable and collectible early 911. It is fully detailed and ready for its new home.

    1969 Porsche 2.0L 911S Coupe - Bonhams 1.jpg

    Auction Description:

The factory-sunroof optioned 911S offered here was completed on July 15th, 1969, at the Zuffenhausen Porsche factory. Whomever ordered this car new clearly had impeccable taste, reflected in its stunning special-order '6853' Metallic Blue over Beige leatherette upholstery. They also ticked plenty of boxes on the option sheet, and this car came well equipped with the optional electric sunroof, Recaro sports seats, yellow fog lights, a left side mirror, and a desirable Becker Bremen radio with loudspeaker and antenna installed. The car featured tinted windows all around and was shod on Michelin tires.

Under prior ownership, this 911S underwent a comprehensive restoration by marque experts and is now presented in outstanding condition throughout. The gorgeous paintwork and restored cabin are finished per the Certificate of Authenticity in the car's original color combination, and the cosmetic aspects of the restoration are further enhanced by refurbished bright work and Fuchs alloy wheels. The engine compartment – housing the original, numbers-matching 2-liter fuel-injected engine – is likewise authentically detailed

The 911S family of cars; from the original 2-liter version of 1967 through to the 2.4 variant from 1973 represent the finest driving genuine sports cars of their day, while retaining a surprising level of practicality for touring and everyday use. For anyone on the fence about adding one of the best production sports cars from the 1960s to their collection, this car awaits; its glorious high revving 2-litre fuel-injected engine guarantees spirited driving (and offers up that unmistakable flat six howl as the revs rise), all while finished in a striking color scheme and equipped with a desirable factory-installed sunroof.

Offered with the Porsche-issued Certificate of Authenticity, owner's manual and tool kit, this numbers-matching 911S sunroof Coupe is ready for exciting drives on challenging roads and active participation in local and club shows.
