First OFFICIAL Early911S Midwest Indiana Get-Together

OK, here is the OFFICIAL thread for the first Midwest Get-Together.

Friday and Saturday Night -- November 5th and 6th - in South Bend, Indiana. There are bed and breakfasts on this link.

    http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/south-bend-indiana.html

The schedule for the event is still to be determined. Please check in and let's figure out who is coming. My guess is that we will have dinner together on Friday Night, for those who can get in early enough. Breakfast on your own (at a B&B), some kind of drive through the countryside, visit to Jim Schrager's place, something for the women to do while we are drooling over cars and schmoozing about Porsches. Then dinner together . . . . .

Just a thought. Can someone volunteer to confirm with Jim, and to put together a ride through the countryside?

I am coming, and I am bringing wifey (Judy) and Kermit with me!!!

Yes, Dave isn't it convenient how that worked out.

Count me in for Friday night and Saturday. Being just a short drive away I'll just drive from home. I'll get together with Jim Schrager and come up with some roads to go driving on in LaPorte and St. Joeseph counties as well as the Niles, MI area where his cars are stored.

Here are a few photos of one of Jim Schrager's cars, a '67S soft window targa.

I'm have a prior commitment on the evening of the 6th. But I could make it out Friday and part of Saturday.

I was going to ask too bump it up a week - but that's Halloween. Gotta light some fires here for Devil's Night.

Edit: Okay, already at work to weasel out of said commitment!

    Are You Coming?

Please give me a confirmation that you are coming. I don't want to be there alone with my wife? Hey, that wouldn't be so bad either!!!!

Here is the attendance list so far:

Larry - Kermit's coming out Party
Jim - WFB isn't so far away
    Brian - Sleeping at home
Randy - Is it a onesie or a twosie?
Dave - Casual Drive home with Wifey
    Jared - The weasel

I suggest a program something like this:

Friday Night - Meet up for dinner and/or drinks.
Saturday morning - get together to schmooze and drool over cars
Saturday late morning - Drive into the Twisties and Turnies brought to you by Brian and Jim
Lunch on the road - Open for restaurant and location suggestions - something quaint and interesting would keep the ladies happy
Saturday afternoon - Finish the "road ralley" - How about a winery tour, a large antique mall or something else to fill a destination for an hour or two before the ride back???
Saturday Night - Back in South Bend - Dinner at some Nice Restaurant (to keep the ladies happy) jazz and a few beers??
Sunday Morning - for those interested - Drive past Jim Schrager's place on the way back home to view his cars and talk more Porsche.

My intent is not to be the social secretary. Just thought I would give some substance to the "meet."

    Are You Coming?

Absolutely! Don't know for sure if it will be Friday evening or early Saturday, but I'll be there. I look forward to talkin', lookin' & drivin'. Exchanged E-mails with J. Schrager today and he may have a prior commitment on Saturday, but will gladly open his doors on Sunday A.M. In my neck of the woods, I rarely see an early car, and NEVER an early S, so I'm quite enthused about this development.

    Larry,

Looks like a good start for possible activities for the weekend. If Jim S. is available on Sunday we can still get together and plan a drive with a place to eat along the way and some kind of destination in the afternoon. Will all those staying in the South Bend area be staying in the same hotel? That would help for planning dinning opportunities on Friday and Saturday night.

Where's Roger Grago when you need him?

    Brian:

I am going to be looking at a B&B for us to stay at. I don't have any idea about restaurants in the area. I know that Dave felt that he needed Sunday to head back to Detroit City. I think that we can do the "long" drive on Saturday, and those that want to, can swing by Jim's on their way out.

In any case, it will be great meeting everyone. I don't mind calling a B&B if anyone else is interested in that idea, and see if we can get a "discount" if we fill the place up or rent multiple rooms for the weekend.

Any interest in that approach? It would be fun if some of us stayed at the same place. . . . Hey, Brian, how bout if we all stay at your place? That would be convenient for us all!!!!

Thanks for doing the recon, guys. I'll be there and will stay at whatever hotel/BB is recommended (or even Brian's sofa - or drilling chair).

Uhhhh, sure . . . . Now I just have to come up with a long haul award? So, who is going to be the concours judge?

Judy and I are looking at B&B's in Northern Indiana and south central Michigan, something that will have enough rooms for all who want to stay, and have a dining room, so that we can all have breakfast together. Just an opportunity for a bit more camaraderie. . Should have some suggestions in another day. There are only a few in South Bend, and two of them are already sold out for that weekend.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all, and giving Judy a chance to meet some Porsche Widows. She thinks that this disease is worse than Monday Night Football!!!!
