Thread: Not the usual ebay junk!

    Red face Clean?

From the pictures I saw the underside of that car was anything but clean. However the outside was very nice. All I know is that for that kind of money I would expect the car to look like it just left the showroom. I`m sure the new owner will have fun with it at any rate

I would guess mine must be worth about 45K!

When I asked the original owner who ordered the car why did you not order the S option he told me at the time the T was a better all around Porsche and the S was a bit too hot... Oh well.

Put it on Ebay with a $100K reserve. That'l tell you.

I guess it would but since I am not selling right now I can't. E Bay may be the new Barret Jackson for low mile Porsches.

I was half joking; if you did put it up at a price you could never get, there would be no risk.

Bill, I agree. A time warp car that shows much better in person than the pics. It was a bit dark in the showroom, but from what I saw, this car is a solid 2+ and could be brought to a 1- with some careful cleaning/detailing of the mechanicals (that stuff always looks worse in photos anyway). And, the originality/documentation adds so much more to it, for as Frank says... "they're only original once".

When are you headed over? Email me, maybe I'll fire up the 'ole tub and meet you over there. I just put in a vintage Momo Monza (thx George) and am dying to try it out!

Jared, I'm going to head over around noon--can't give a definite time yet since I'm going to be tied up with a deposition all day. I'd like to meet you over there so maybe I could call you when I'm ready?

I loved the silver Prototipo (so much that I bought one!). What's the Monza look like?

Normally I would be suspect with an eBay auction result like this, but it looks to be legitimate. The winning bidder is a dealer from North Carolina called Road Scholars. Some of you may have experience with them. I wonder what they will do with it and what price they will put on it for resale.? Here is a link to their site.

As I was looking at the car, one of the guys came in and said the money was just wired. I believe they said it was going to a collector in South Carolina (maybe North--I don't remember) who presently owns two '72Ss. It's shipping out Wednesday.

So, looks like it's going to be flipped. Anybody willing to pay 50?

Man! How could you flip this thing at that price and still make a profit worth your trouble?! I guess my point is that the car was already fought over on eBay so any buyers willing to pay big money already had their chance. Are there markets elsewhere they could expect to exploit with even better results? Is there a group of fanatics that have sworn off Internet technology that have a ton of money falling out of their pockets? The way I understood it, this car was going to a personal collection--perhaps one of the owners?
