Narrow body with 16 inch Fuchs

Hello all. I have a 1970 911T that I want to put 16 X 6 and 16 X 7 inch Fuchs on. I would greatly appreciate it if members would please share pics of their un-flared cars with these rims, any fitment issues you experienced, and what brand and size tires you are using on your car.

    Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the picture! What size tires are you using, and are your fenders rolled a lot?

The car is Jeff Higgins, 16x7, no fender rolling on 205/55s. It has a little clearance problem with the top of the fender that would be cured by another half degree negative camber or a quarter inch shaved off of the back of the wheel's mating face.

I think it depends on the wheel you use. Was it the 944 7"s that fit better? For what ever reason I put 16x7s from an SC on my E; they fit fine a stock height. My E is alot lower now the 15x6's are tight w/205s and some negative camber.

If you are in the area I have a pair of 16X7s that you can try/buy...

    So is it better (for fitment) to use 16 inch Fuchs from a 1980's 911SC (16 x 6 front, 16 x 7 rear) or 16 x 7 rims all around from a 944? Are the offsets different for 16 x 7 rims from a 911SC vs. a 944?

Just a data point.... I have a backdated SC (front fenders are the same as your narrow body) and the fit of the front 6" fuchs with 205/55/16 is marginal in hard cornering. The superlites make this even worse due to their offset, but even with fuchs it's close.... Not sure why you'd want 16" fuchs on a classic anyway, it looks wrong ;-) Maybe we can trade wheels (but I'd want 8s ;-)

    With superlites it's even worse:

The front wheels do not have the clearance issues of the rears, so 7s all the way around are fine (although if the tire is tall, it may rub on the front inner fender well in lock to lock steering). Offsets are the same for 911 or 951 7x16 Fuchs - only difference is there is more brake clearance on the 944 turbo wheel.

    Greg D.,

I like the look of 15 inch Fuchs too, I just want to try something a little different, and like the idea of using more modern rubber. Plus, if you have ever seen Jeff Smith's red RGruppe car in person, you would quickly learn to like the look of 16 inch Fuchs on an early car (although his car has the advantage of either RS or S/T flairs to assist in wider wheel/tire fitment).
