Thread: Show Your Seats

  1. #321
Headrests were obviously not a common option in Europe (whether they were early round 356 type at this point in time OR integral mount type) .....I do not see any in this photo of a Factory lot in 1968 MY.

And this photo is at least mid-sept.....no earlier ...beige S model (S - MV 191) has H1's

*note beige S model even has a rallye maplight. Do I see some type of front air vent hanging down behind pass. foglamp ?

    Joost,

Love the seats, Did you mount them flat, or raise the front as suggested in the literature that came with the seats?

Just fitting mine, and trying to work out a height, my car is a couple of months before its driving slowly coming together.

    Thumbs up

After posting on the first page of this thread back in '07.....
    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...how-Your-Seats

Our buddy Randy Wells captured my then 19 year old redone seats two years later....

Thanks to the late Bill Keffer for the great upholstery work back in 1990, and to Randy for this great shot in '09...

....... Now at 23 years and still do'n fine........

Smells like Scheel, but it is a Recaro

    this is my newest addition.
Never seen before, not even seen pictures of it.
It looks like a Scheel 400 with strange hinges, but this is a Recaro Seat [edit as of today I am sure it is a scheel].
It even has a (scheel or perhaps homemade) 911 tilting console on it that has no locking mechanism.
It has sliders with some differences to the later Sliders. The knob on the slider looks scheel, but the rest is similar to the later Recaro LWT sliders with different lever.
    No Headrest reception.
    Recaro logo on knob.
Anyone ever seen it before, anyone has pics to date it?
So now I need an older driver seat to go with it.

    More Pics.
definetly Recaro, although the console is imho a Scheel.
Still looking for a Picture of this to put a datestamp on it.
As it has a 911 console and the Father of the seller owned an early 911 back in the days, where better to ask for a period photo of this seat than here.

Hi Raj, I think it's simply unfaded. It spent the last 40 Years indoors.
It feels to the touch exactly like the coduroy of my bucket.

Can you take the turn knob off and show me photos of the hinge and reclining mechanism.I think it is a 68 missing its chrome outer cover and I am curious as to what they did with the tilt mechanism.very interesting seat

    Raj
The hinges are symmetric, so here it is without the knob.
On the back of the knob there is a part in form of a spiral that goes between the small black part which contains a leaf spring and the fixed protruding part of the hinge.
