Yeah-yeah --- we went . . . minus Zovig. More here . . .

Car Shows are pretty-much all that the Nasty Car's good/used for, anyway . . .
. . . 'cept for maybe a Drive every now-&-then

Regarding the Sifferts . . .
Thanks to Karim (911T1971), I sent letters --- in French + w/ photographs . . . to Phillipe + Veronique, Jo Siffert’s children, as well as Laurent Missbauer --- a journalist + a reputed authority on Matters Siffert
Expensive effort --- ~$150 for all three packages w/ tracking
V’s + L’s packages show delivered 24-Jul . . . but P’s only shows 'arrived'
As yet, I have received no responses
Regarding Mr Anderson . . .
Zovig and I visited the home of some of the late Mr Anderson's descendants that I’d located, told them about who/what/why/etc, then asked for their help
Heard back, over the week-end . . .
Wrong Anderson
Purchased from Don Ahearn (Rennman) . . .
http://www.porsport.com/index.php?op...id=1&Itemid=57
NOS = $450
Looks to be a die-cast pot-metal or aluminum case
Vintage indeterminate . . . but the part no on the (oil-bled) box = 6000 854
Heavy = 3.4 lbs/1.6kg
I have no idea how this gets installed. Mass of the thing is pretty daunting
denson was collecting parts + doing an install on his RS . . . and I may still bug him for some hints/details . . .
But then I saw the F Porsche 911 S at this last Monterey . . .
See post #47 + #73 . . .

Right-hand antenna! . . .
. . . = factory power antenna?
I've already fired-off an e-mail to the Pebble Beach Guys --- asking to get in touch w/ the F Porsche car's owner/investor . . . but nothing, yet. Then? --- it turns out that our own Mr Conklin (cornpanzer) has an article 'in the works' . . . on this very car!
So --- hopefully . . . there'll be some details forthcoming on how these bits get installed . . .

. . . F Porsche's 911 S
Händler Nr = 100 . . .
. . . too!
1059 has killer horns --- I mean ridiculously loud . . . lighting 'em off, inside the garage, just about makes my ears water. But I haven't had a proper horn button in the car since I swapped in the old Le Mans wheel. Meantime, if I've needed to hit the horns? --- then I've just fumbled/grabbed the hot-wire that's sticking out of the column, then tapped it on any metal part of the wheel
Great fun --- and so effective, too. Especially in traffic --- in a corner --- shifting gears . . . w/ Zovig . . . at night
Anyway, I got this MoMo horn button from Mike (ibemiked), like --- a year ago (!) . . . packed it away . . . lost it . . . found it again . . . forgot about . . . couldn’t find it . . . etc
Well --- I found it again, just last week-end, so --- w/ the Coronado Speed Fest comin’ up, this week-end . . .
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ber-21-22-2013
. . . it’s finally on The Nasty Car now
Turns out, this bit was a liiittle small for my particular wheel’s horn hole. I did hook up the button --- only one wire . . . + plunk'd it in, then checked to make sure everything worked . . .
Yup!
. . . so all I had to do was figure-out some way to fix the button in place
Painter’s tape was handy --- as in my glove box . . . so . . .
Kluged-up a little 'collar' --- to take out some of the slip . . . = good 'nuf!
Meep-meep!
Meanwhile, Mark Allbaugh (Mark A.) --- PO #7 . . . sent along some photos that he’d come across, recently
The one head-on shot is interesting. It shows, not only the same funky side-view mirror that Lou Scalzo had . . . but also shows remnants/traces of a windshield sticker --- low, on the pass-side . . .
’70 Weltmeister, methinks
Zovig +I took 1059 to Monterey --- for the Legends of the Autobahn
Kind of a last minute thing. At first, I wasn’t sure if we’d have time enough to go --- Family stuff, Work stuff, Stuff stuff
Then I wasn’t sure if Zovig would have fun --- another day of draggin’ around at a Car Show. But we’d been to The Legends Show once before, so . . .
http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...egends%2C+2011
Besides, Monterey is a pretty place, just by itself --- and we always manage to find some other interesting destinations/distractions when we travel together . . . we’re both born tourists. And we always have fun together
Anyway, I’d d!cked around a little too long making our reservations --- airbnb . . .
https://www.airbnb.com/?af=1922719&c...FQnhQgoduFEArg
. . . and juuuust missed getting this really nice little place in Carmel-by-the-Sea, got disgusted with the whole process, then --- picked-up something on one of the hotel sites . . . ‘mystery hotel’ deal . . . absolutely last minute
Yikes!
Luckily, Zovig’s as adventurous as me --- or more . . . so I didn’t have to work too hard to sell her on the whole ‘mystery’ thing, so . . . we’re ON!
Have I ever said how lucky I am?
So, we stayed-up late Wednesday, got up later Thursday --- took a coupla days off . . . then headed off Up North . . . on the 101, this time
1) NOT an Early Start
2) The only Porsche that we saw along the way . . . and he couldn't keep up (--- although he tried)
3) . . . morning low clouds & fog . . .
4) + 5) 154 cut-off, out by Lake Cachuma

Copspotting . . .
Tinted windows + missing front-door rub-strips + dog bowls + teensie-weesie little radio aerials on the trunk + CA EXEMPT plate = . . .
Police Interceptor
Then again --- no spot lights means this could just be the local School Board President . . .
. . . or the Police Chief's wife

Later start = hotter trip
Not totally miserable --- but, then again . . . no AC + no radio. And still --- never was heard a discouraging word from Zovig. Also, this is Thursday so notta lotta traffic
Pretty warm from Santa Barbara to Pismo, then . . . fog rolled in/cooled things off = why I love the coast
Pit stop in SLO. Hot-hot-hot --- so thank (Your Deity Here) for all the big fluffy trees. Too bad that we couldn't stay --- they have a killer Farmer's market, here, Thursday evenings
