Marc,
Can you post photos of the serial number stamping as well as the type number 911/83 stamping? Please measure the size of the 911/83 numbers also. Thanks

Hello all,
Thank you for the additional info.
I think it is wisest to first check the numbers we have with Porsche to see if they are indeed matching.
I will let you know what comes out.
In the mean time, thank you all for the help in this matter.
Kind regards,
Marc

Hello,
Hereby a picture of the 911/83 stamp on the case. I would think this is factory correct and supports the assumption that this is indeed a 911/83 case.
It seems to lead to the conclusion that this case must have been resleeved to take 2.4 pistons. Would this be a common procedure?
Also would such a resleeving mean that the case would first have been opened up a bit (to get a true surface for fitting the sleeves), or would it be most likely that there is just a 2.5 mm wall thickness ring pressed inside the unmachined original 97mm spigot opening. In other words, would be likely that it is possible to just remove these sleeves and have an intact 911/83 case?
Thanks for any opinion on the matter.
Kind regards,
Marc
Are you sure they are 2.4 pistons and cylinders?

You will better confirm the type of cylinders by checking the number at the base if the cylinder. You should be able to see this by looking under the car, or in through the fan shroud.
Good luck.

That looks like a factory stamp all right but there is no build number underneath it........ Davep, what do you think?

They stopped putting the production # under the type# a few years earlier. How about a pix of the serial #. *663-----*
Here's an example (not mine) of the cylinder type marking. A 2.4 will begin with 84Z* and a 2.7 will begin with 90Z* as in the photo.
