It's nothing that hasn't been seen before but I was pretty stoked to fix my Bozzani Frame. I bought it years ago and when I got it in the mail it was cracked I got a good deal on it so I didn't want to send it back and I've just lived with it. It's always been one of those things that has been a disappointment. Well.... not anymore I may eventually have it rechromed and then repainted but at this point I just welded it up and put a little touch up on it. It's as strong as new and doesn't look half as bad either.

Good job! Really like to see/read more about your experiences w/ this. I've considered brazing --- but would need to find someone . . . Jeweler, maybe?

Truth is --- I like the raggediness of Olde Stuffe. Breakages need to be tended to, I agree --- but restoring paint + especially chrome? . . .

    . . . never quite the same --- IMO

I finally found a Bill Stremmel licence plate frame. This is where my car was sold in 73. It looks nice next to the Bill Stremmel key ring ;-)
I haven't seen many of those frames but the ones I saw where more silver when this one has more of a gold finish.
Is it possible that this gold finish was for cars sold more in the 60s???? Any Bill Stremmel expert out there???

Sorry the pic will only upload upside down....any help???

    Bishop . . .

    . . . from the '70 thru '72 PDLs . . .

    Norm Bishop Volkswagen
    'Franklin at the Freeway'
    Boise, ID 83701? (. . . or 2?)

'Nother crispy one. Standard matte white lettering in dull grey-blue letter-boxes, no Makers' marks/ID, dates, etc. Checkerboard upper corners w/'phonographing' in both letter-boxes

Some interesting details, here. Biggest One = 'Porsche + Audi' branding --- on a clearly VW Dealer's frame . . . no 'P+A' in the name, at all . . . only the two names, tacked-on at the bottom. One of just a handful of VW agents who carried all three makes after the '69 re-org of Porsche's North American operations. Also, odd lower-only fastening to a car --- w/ not-even any tabs up/top, to secure the plate-cum-frame . . . = flimsy-as-he!!. Surprised this even survived

    Plate = std ID pass-iss --- '1A' = Ada (Boise) county

    Dealer's gone --- but still a 'car mall' . . .

    . . . sorta

shhh......... Don't tell anyone my secret.
I know the true craftsmen amongst us will probably look down upon this method but my thought was not necessarily repairing this as you would a body panel but rather tried to go at it as merely repairing a display piece. In the end I found that the repair was just as strong as the rest of the frame and was quite pleased. To me it was as simple as brazing a copper pipe and it's really no different. The product is called muggyweld and I ordered it from muggyweld.com. It was the best DIY repair product that I could find for pot metal so I went with it.

    Park . . .

    . . . from the '70 thru '72 PDLs . . .

    Park Porsche Audi Corporation
    6700 Manchester Blvd
    Buena Park, CA

    Matte-white lettering in darker grey-blue (almost metallic, maybe?) letter boxes, flash-chromed --- classic RWB&Co . . .

    . . . slightly tweaked but still all-there . . .

    . . . + still fused to the plate it was 1st bolted to . . . off a '71 T originally sold there

Dealership 's looong gone --- but their store still stands . . . re-purposed for mending not vending

Interesting to note the finish in the lower corners. NOT cross-hatched

    Instead?. . . 'diamondized'

Now that's a gorgeous frame! I have a few Robert brown frames that that have that "diamonized" corner as opposed to the cross hatched. I'll try and find a pic or two.

Rick, have you ever considered putting together a PDL List for all the dealers from '65-'73? I was thinking of something much like the one for VW on The Samba. It'd be great to have that info available to research and see dealer frames as well as promotional items.

    Here's the example....
