Complete front fender oil cooler and lines were from Elephant Racing. The fit was very nice and factory help was terrific when I called several times during the installation with questions.
In the 1970 911 there were twin battery boxes in each front fender. The location of the oil cooler in the passenger fender placed it about one inch behind the battery box. I did not want to just cut off the battery box because the mount for the thru the grill fog lights depends on the battery box. I was able to drill a 4 inch hole in the front and rear of the box and place an aluminum tube thru the box to supply air to the oil cooler. I then filled the box with spray in foam to encased the alloy tube . That gave a waterproof box and a nice firm inner wall where the box meets the trunk area.The air flows directly onto the oil cooler thru the tube.
As I said, lots of special mods to get the appearance and performance I was after.
Like cutting the front and rear R bumpers into thirds to get the proper fit. The R bumpers were for short wheelbase cars so in the rear they intruded into the fender well about an inch. as they would on any LWB car. Lots of surgery to get right. I had some practice as they were the same style bumpers I put on my 1969 911S vintage race car years ago.

Here is a picture of the lines going to the front.
It may not be visible but the lines are not smooth on the outside but rather have a finned outer contour. This really aids in the cooling as well.

I joined the Early 911 Registry some 18-20 years ago when I raced the 69 911S. Still have the T shirt and window sticker that they gave for free when I joined. I suppose I am still a junior member because I spend time in my garage not on the computer much. Built or restored lots of vintage race and road cars ( Brabham, Lotus, Tiga sports 2000, Porsche 356,911 and 914/6 ) Therefore very few posts and I think that's how one gets higher on the pecking order. I have bought several parts from adds on the site. Also gained a lot of insight and knowledge from the website. So when I finished the Targa I was so happy with the finished product and how it drove.....just like I imagined it would....I thought I would share it with the group.
I do not have any pics of the air flow to the oil cooler. It takes air from the foglight opening in the front pass side bumper . Tried to take a few pics but really not much light there to get a good pic.
Don't forget the whipped cream and peanuts
