Thanks for alerting everybody. I already had this one on my list. Do I have yours? By the way the bidding on the red coupe above went to $125,000.00 and stopped. Not sold. For anybody interested I have added about six more recently to my targa lists. Seems to me that there are color batches emerging which would lead credence to somebody's theory that a bunch of one color were painted at one time.

Unless the reserve on the 500206S (SWT) above is vastly higher than the opening bid floor, I'm starting to think it is a good thing I got rid of my 500418S when I did. https://goo.gl/photos/D5LLEwxMxAxzM3wJA

Documents say the polo red coupe came with a rally kit.

Jim based on your pics, your car looks much nicer than the one listed above. But yours looks like it benefited from a quality restoration. Very nice.

    Auction Description:

Finding a Concours-quality early "long-hood" Porsche 911S coupe has become increasingly difficult; relatively few were manufactured and fewer still were sold in the United States. This magnificent 1970 911S coupe, glowing in brilliant Signal Orange (Code 14) with a black leatherette (Code 12) interior is precisely such an automobile.

Its owner states that this fine example had been parked and left to decay in a Florida carport in 1996 and was discovered in derelict condition in early 2010. A closer inspection revealed that it had accrued only 32,300 miles from new. After first considering it as a good starting point to build a track-day car for Porsche Club of America driver education events, the fact that it was complete and fully numbers-matching prompted a change of direction. Receipt of a factory-issued Certificate of Authenticity provided the fact that the car had been ordered with tinted glass all around, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and a "U.S. Comfort Package".

The current owner turned the car over to the highly-regarded restoration department of Brumos (Brundage Motors) Porsche in Jacksonville, where a comprehensive bare metal restoration was begun. Brumos is known for its exacting craftsmanship and attention to detail. Brumos shop personnel did the disassembly, engine, transmission, brakes and suspension, interior, and re-assembly work, while Terry Simmons, an independent specialist for the Brumos race cars and Brumos museum collection, put the tub on a rotisserie and tackled all the body and paintwork. This project, consuming some 3½ years, was completed in early 2014.

This wonderful 911S, which has been dubbed "Orange Crush", then began a new life as a Concours competitor, with the quality of Brumos' work producing a steady list of prestigious Best of Class, Judges' Choice, and Best Porsche awards at events including St. Johns (Meadowbrook), Hilton Head, Highlands, Lakeland, Pinehurst, Winter Park, Dayton, Ault (Cincinnati), Atlanta, Porsche Parade and a number of local car events. She has also been shown at Louisville, Kiawah, and Amelia Island. This fine Porsche has been described as a totally finished piece of artwork brought back to as original condition as possible with no expense spared - a true Concours d'Elegance winner. Showing just 33,325 original miles at the time of cataloguing, it is supplied with its correct and original Fuchs spare alloy wheel and tire, jack, tool kit, radio, a set of special color-coordinated CoCo mats, and a thick notebook of invoices. The serious Porsche collector seeking an early 911S coupe ready to be enjoyed on the highway or competing for trophies on the Concours field need look no further than this outstanding example.

    BaT Description:

This 1971 Porsche 911S Targa was reportedly used as a track car in California before being acquired by the previous owner in the mid-1980s when he was a teenager. He drove the car to ArtCenter College and raced it on Van Nuys Blvd. at night, though it was placed into garage-storage in 1994 after the clutch arm broke. The current owner acquired the car in 2013 and got it running, including a top-end rebuild. The engine displaces 2.8 liters and is equipped with a Carrera 3.2 crank and 90mm RS pistons. A repaint in the original Gold Metallic was also performed, and the carpet and targa top were replaced. This 911S was then invited to and shown at the 2014 Greystone Concours. It is now being offered on behalf of the current owner with a factory tool kit, owner’s manuals, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean California title.

The car has been repainted in the factory Gold Metallic (88), and a set of RS flares were fitted by a prior owner when the car was being raced. The paint shows some polisher burns on the rear deck lid and front valence, as well as a small ding on the trunk and two chips on the driver-side flare. A paint flaw is present on top of the right rear quarter panel, and was caused by a wider set of Fuchs that are no longer fitted. The spot measures approximately 2″x4″, and the seller notes that the paint in the area remains smooth. Note the California sunset plates mounted front and rear.

The current owner sourced a replacement targa top in better condition than the original item. The 7″ rear wheels are fitted with spacers, and the 6″ front Fuchs have been widened to 7″. Pirelli P6000 tires are fitted front and rear.

The cabin is upholstered in black leatherette and features stock sport seats. The current owner fitted a set of brown carpets with black edging. Some cracks are present in the dash, and a nick is present in the front seat. The stock Blaupunkt stereo remains in place, as does the factory steering wheel. 96k miles are shown on the odometer, a few thousand of which have been added by the seller. Per the seller, the car does not appear to have been fitted with a cage during its period as a racer.

Power comes from a modified flat-six based around a replacement 911S case sourced from Porsche in the 1970s. The engine was rebuilt as a 2.8L when the car was being raced with a Carrera 3.2 crankshaft, as well as 90mm RS pistons and cylinders. The current owner rebuilt the original heads after acquiring the car in 2013. The engine is equipped with a set of Weber 46 IDA carburetors, Turbo oil pump and stock 911S cams. The MFI hardware is included, and some remains on the engine. The 5-speed manual transaxle is equipped with a 1970s-vintage short shifter. The seller notes some moisture spots on the engine, transmission, and oil tank.

The original case was destroyed early in the car’s life when the engine threw a rod. A replacement case was procured from Porsche and has been stamped with the original engine number (6310022) as shown above. The replacement case shows the correct 911/02 stamping for a 911S engine case. A front-mounted oil cooler was fitted by when the car was being raced and has since been removed. The resulting holes were repaired by the current owner. Additional undercarriage photos are provided.

The battery was relocated to the smuggler’s box when the car was raced, and the current owner returned the car to dual batteries in the stock locations. A correct tool roll, jack, and a spare Fuchs wheel are included. The owner’s and radio manuals are included in a correct red vinyl sleeve. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is also include, showing the original colors and configuration. Some records are available since 2013.

The description says the original engine was destroyed when it threw a rod, and the replacement case was stamped with the original serial number. So yeah, it’s nice that they’re being transparent.
